Cryotherapy
For the removal of skin lesions including skin tags, warty lesions and treatment of pigmentation caused by sun damage.
What is Cryotherapy?
This is the perfect treatment for the removal of skin lesions including skin tags, warty lesions and treatment of pigmentation caused by sun damage.
Cryotherapy, sometimes known as ‘cold therapy’ or ‘freeze therapy’, is a quick and highly effective way of removing benign (non-cancerous) lesions on the skin. It exposes the lesions to extremely cold temperatures for several seconds, without damaging the surrounding area. This is doctor-led so we will always check the lesion is not suspicious before treating you.
Cryotherapy can be used to treat:
- Bothersome skin tags
- Warts (including seborrheic warts)
- Patches of sun damage/pigmentation
- Pre-cancerous skin lesions
- Milia
The Treatment
Dr Jenni was proud to be the first aesthetic doctor in the country to offer cryotherapy treatment with the amazing (non-surgical) Hydrozid® device, a safe innovative method of reducing and eliminating abnormal skin growths and pigmentation.
Hydrozid® produces a very fine freezing jet, which our team skilfully uses to target problem areas, exposing them to sub-zero temperatures to remove or reduce the lesion, without damaging the surrounding healthy tissue. The treatment is fast and effective.
During your appointment you have the added benefit of a fully qualified medical doctor examining and assessing those skin lumps and bumps that concern you. On a number of occasions our doctors have diagnosed cancerous or pre-cancerous skin lesions which were not the reason for the person attending in the first place.
This treatment is provided by the following members of our team: Dr Naomi, Nurse Jules and Alesia.
Does cryotherapy hurt?
No. You will feel a short burst of cold and slight discomfort on the affected area (similar to holding an ice cube on your skin) but this will only last for a few seconds. Cryotherapy doesn’t require local anaesthetic or numbing creams.
What to expect after your treatment
After your cryotherapy treatment has been completed, the treated area will gradually scab over and fall off over the following few days. This process is completely safe, natural, and painless. There is no need to cover the affected area unless it catches/rubs.
How long does it take to see results?
The end result is seen around 10-14 days after your treatment.
Our team will book you in for a review appointment a few weeks after your treatment, to ensure that you have had the desired result.
